IPORA is an international transdisciplinary research network, created to study the major challenges facing the African continent and to find concrete solutions.
The network was set up in 2023 by teams of researchers from universities in Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, France and Morocco, working in the fields of economics, sociology, political science, public health, anthropology, agri-food science, law and environmental science.
The network is open to civil society stakeholders, policy-makers and researchers from all countries and disciplines who wish to create alliances to carry out research that benefits populations and advances the concept of interdisciplinarity.

Epistemic communities & African agentivity
Understanding how diverse knowledge systems shape decision-making and public policies in Africa, and how African societies assert their own agency in global interactions.
Agrifood systems
Exploring how food production, value chains and nutrition interact to support Africa’s transition toward sustainable, healthy and equitable food systems.
Domestic pollution
Investigating the health impacts of household air pollution—especially in children—and developing evidence to guide cleaner, safer and scalable cooking and energy solutions.
Global health inequities
Studying poverty-related diseases and child health to design and test interventions that reduce health inequalities and strengthen access to quality care.
Social equity in a context of informality
Examining how informal employment, housing, services and norms shape social justice, and how public policies can improve equity in rapidly changing urban and economic contexts.

Interdisciplinary programs bringing together students from Africa and Europe to work on real research challenges through summer schools and collaborative projects.

Interactive courses combining disciplinary teaching and interdisciplinary project work on key issues such as population, health, food systems and urban transitions.
